This Week

This week in Mishna we reviewed some of the basics of Torah Sh'baal Peh (the Oral Law) and began learning the basics of Talmud such as:
1. Who were the Amoraim?
2. Where did the Amoraim live (using a map)?
3. Why was Israel referred to as Maarava (the West)?
4. What does a page of Gemara look like and how do we find the right page?
In the next few weeks we will be learning about:
1. The generations of the Amoraim.
2. How to identify a meimra (the statement of an Amora).
3. How gemara is different from Mishna.
4. The different Mishnaic sources the gemara quotes from.
5. And more...
The goal is that they will be ready to open a page of gemara on day one next year and be ready to begin their excursion into the Sea of the Talmud
